Conduit / Raceway Fill

Key Requirements

Raceway fill is determined from the actual conductor areas and the permitted percentage of the raceway internal area.
Chapter 9 Table 1 permits 53% for one conductor, 31% for two conductors, and 40% for over two conductors in the general case.
Use the conductor dimensions/areas for the actual insulation and conductor type.
Mixed conductor sizes require summing the individual conductor areas.

Nipples not over 24 in. have a 60% fill allowance under the applicable Chapter 9 note.
Annex C tables are useful only for the exact raceway and conductor combination shown.
