Chapter 2 - Wiring and Protection · Article / reference: 110.26(E)
Key Requirements
Indoor switchboards, switchgear, panelboards, and motor control centers shall have dedicated equipment space as required by 110.26(E).
The space is intended to protect electrical equipment from foreign systems and preserve installation access.
Foreign systems are restricted from the dedicated zone except as specifically permitted.
Exceptions / Watch Items
Suspended ceilings with removable panels are not considered structural ceilings for this rule.
Common Field Gotchas
Coordinate plumbing, sprinkler, duct, and mechanical routing before the room gets crowded.
