Key Requirements
Transformer secondary conductors shall be protected in accordance with one of the permitted 240.21(C) rule paths.
Each permitted secondary-conductor arrangement has length, ampacity, installation, and termination conditions that shall be satisfied.
Primary protection alone is not a universal substitute for secondary conductor protection.
Exceptions / Watch Items
Outdoor secondary conductors and supervised industrial installations have separate provisions.
Common Field Gotchas
Measure the actual conductor length and verify every condition of the selected rule path.
