Key Requirements
Working space about electrical equipment shall be provided and maintained to permit ready and safe operation and maintenance.
The depth, width, and height of working space shall meet the applicable 110.26 requirements.
The working space shall not be used for storage.
Dedicated equipment space requirements shall be checked for switchboards, switchgear, panelboards, and motor control centers.
Exceptions / Watch Items
Special installations and existing conditions can involve other rules, but field convenience does not waive required working space.
Common Field Gotchas
Doors, shelving, piping, and future tenant storage are common encroachments.
